A superb and extremely rare pattern proof printed with strong tone on heavy cream wove paper, prior to the edition of 50. Inscribed by the artist in the lower margin, good example 25.
The inscription indicates that Nicholson intended half the edition should be printed in this manner, while the remaining twenty-five impressions would be clean-wiped. The present impression is illustrated by Lafranca.
