A superb proof of this extremely rare plate, printed with tone on heavy wove paper. There is no recorded edition and very few impressions have survived. One other was sold at Lafranca's sale at Sothebys in July 1998.
In December 1967, on an impression defaced with blue crayon, Nicholson instructed Lafranca to destroy the plate and any proofs. The cancelled plate may be seen in the present exhibition.
