An exceedingly rare proof of an unrecorded plate, in all likelihood the only uncancelled impression in existence. A superb example printed with tone on heavy wove paper.
Eight unrecorded plates are now known to exist; all were cancelled, on one occasion at least, because of overbiting, but usually because Nicholson simply abandoned them. The survival of more than one or two proofs of each is unlikely. This etching was made on the reverse of the copper plate of Solitary Turkish Sundial [L.78], another print which remained unpublished.
